The loss of the School of Nursing would be a blow to general practice

RCGP Cymru Wales is disappointed and worried by the proposal to close the School of Nursing at Cardiff University. There are 1040 nurses working in Welsh general practice playing a vital service to patients.

RCGP Cymru Wales Chair Dr Rowena Christmas MBE said:

“Recently we’ve been forced to cope with providing a service to patients with fewer GPs and fewer nurses in our surgeries. Far from losing career paths, we should be ramping up routes into these professions.

My call on Cardiff University is to rethink. My ask of Welsh Government is to intervene rather than lose this important asset to healthcare.”
