GPs working to ensure vulnerable housebound patients receive their booster jab

Addressing concerns about the vaccination of housebound patients in the media, Professor Martin Marshall, Chair of the Royal College of GPs, said the following:

“Some of our most vulnerable patients are housebound, and GPs and our teams – as well as other community vaccination teams – will be doing their best to ensure they are offered booster vaccines in as timely a way as possible. Indeed hundreds of thousands of housebound patients already have received their booster jab. Vaccinating people who are housebound is more logistically difficult than at vaccine centres, particularly using the vaccines that need to be prepared, stored and transported in specific ways, but GP-led teams will be working hard to do this in the most efficient way possible to ensure as many housebound patients are protected as soon as possible. We would encourage anyone who is offered a booster vaccine to have one in order to give themselves maximum protection against Covid-19.”
